A 14-year-old boy has been taken into custody and faces charges linked to a series of anti-Semitic incidents, sparking outrage in the community. This troubling situation began to unfold in November 2025, when authorities in York Region received reports detailing hate-driven phone calls made to Jewish educational institutions and places of worship in both York Region and Toronto. These calls included derogatory comments aimed at the Jewish community.
Following an extensive investigation, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Newmarket, where they apprehended the youth on Tuesday. During this operation, officials also discovered what they believe to be psilocybin, a substance that falls under controlled categories due to its psychoactive properties.
As a result of these actions, the teenager, who is protected by anonymity laws under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, now faces multiple charges.
